Quest'anno l'organizzazione automobilistica tedesca ADAC ha testato gli pneumatici invernali nelle misure 195/65 R15 e 215/65 R16.
Insolitamente per un test di pneumatici invernali, Continental fallisce in questa misura di pneumatici SUV 215/65 R16, classificandosi solo settimo nella classifica generale. Questo lascia la porta aperta a Dunlop per conquistare il primo posto con il Winter Sport 5 che dimostra di avere prestazioni complessive molto equilibrate senza evidenti debolezze.
BF Goodrich si è piazzata al secondo posto, vincendo la maggior parte delle categorie di test ma perdendo il primo posto a causa di una prestazione leggermente debole sul bagnato, mentre il Goodyear UltraGrip Performance Gen-1, arrivato terzo, si è dimostrato estremamente performante sul bagnato, ma un po' deludente sulla neve.

I risultati sull'asciutto sono ponderati per il 15% complessivo, sul bagnato per il 30%, sulla neve per il 20%, sul ghiaccio per il 10%, sul rumore/comfort per il 5%, sul consumo di carburante per il 10% e sull'usura per il 10%.
